Penn State Hazleton student-athletes garner 28 academic awards during fall semester
HAZLETON, Pa. - Twenty-three Penn State Hazleton student-athletes garnered a total of 28 conference and national awards for their achievements in the classroom this fall. The sports recognized in the fall include men's soccer, golf and women's volleyball.
Five student-athletes earned National All-Academic honors from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, which awards upperclassmen with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher. Women's volleyball players Patrice Lombard, Andrea Johnson and Miranda Dunne, and men's soccer players Roberto Lopez and Dante Toth were recognized by the USCAA for their outstanding academic work.
In addition, 23 student-athletes were recognized by the Penn State University Athletic Conference for academic excellence. The PSUAC awards conference academic awards to student-athletes who earn a 3.0 GPA during their season of competition, or those student-athletes who have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or above after completing 24 credits.
Men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball academic awards are announced at the conclusion of the spring semester.
