HAZLETON, Pa. -- Penn State Hazleton men's soccer standout Logan Yacowatz (Sugarloaf, Pa.) was honored earlier this week as the Penn State University Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week. The award is the first such honor for the sophomore, and marks the second straight week a men's soccer player has been recognized by the PSUAC. Freshman Steven Principe (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) was awarded Player of the Week on September 30.
Yacowatz helped lead Hazleton to a 1-0-1 week, allowing just three goals while making 11 saves. He made seven of his saves in a 2-2 draw against Greater Allegheny. Yacowatz has started all 11 games in goal for the Nittany Lions, allowing only 1.82 goals per game.
Over the last seven games, Yacowatz has not allowed more than two goals as Hazleton has gone 5-1-1 during that stretch. His goals against average is 1.00 over that time and includes two shutouts.
Hazleton finishes their season with four straight home games, including their final PSUAC game of the season against Penn State Brandywine on Friday, October 10 at 4:00 p.m. The Nittany Lions finish with three non-conference games and must await their playoff fate as the rest of the PSUAC finishes regular season play. Hazleton currently sits in fifth place, with the top six advancing to the conference tournament beginning October 22.
