Bio

Joining the Lady Lions Soccer program for their inaugural season is first-year Assistant Coach Brian Riedel. Riedel is a member of the United States Soccer Federation and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, holding numerous certifications through the National Federation of State High School Associations. Riedel holds certifications in goalkeeping and game management through the NSCAA and an F license from the USSF to go along with years of experience developing talent.

Riedel was recently named Assistant Coach of the Hazleton Area High School boys varsity squad after spending a pair of seasons developing younger student-athletes at the middle school level. Prior to that, Riedel spent numerous years working with young players for the Northwest Sound Youth Soccer Association and locally with the Greater Hazleton Youth Soccer Association. As a player, Riedel has served as a trialist for the Philadelphia Union and was a four year letter award winner for Tri-Valley Junior Senior High School in Hegins, Pa., playing both soccer and high school football.

Riedel takes a holistic approach to develop players that will achieve success both on the field and off, creating a cohesive team atmosphere and teaching the mental aspects of the game. Riedel works with student-athletes to improve not only form and technique, but passion and respect for the game, teammates and opponents, using the game to cultivate leadership qualities in the players he instructs.

Off the pitch, Riedel spends most of his time with his wife Misty and three children, Brian Jr., Genna and Leo while enjoying photography, biking and rooting on his favorite soccer teams, now including the Lady Lions of Penn State Hazleton.
