DuBois, Pa. - Two Nittany Lions earned All-American status this weekend at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's Small College World Series. Senior Colin Stauffer (Hazleton, Pa.) was named a 1st Team USCAA All-American for the first time in his career and junior Eric Nothstein (Palmerton, Pa.) was named Honorable Mention All-American for the second straight season, capping their outstanding efforts during the spring of 2022.
Colin Stauffer (Hazleton, Pa.) - 1st Team USCAA All-American
Stauffer was electric on the mound for Hazleton this season. Though it didn't always translate into wins, nearly every time the senior took the mound he started and finished the game. Stauffer made seven starts during the spring and threw complete games in five of those contests, totaling 48.2 innings. The senior ranks fourth in the USCAA with 69 strikeouts despite not having any post-season games played and is second in the nation averaging 12.76 strikeouts per nine innings. Stauffer ended the season with a 3-3 record on the hill with a 4.25 earned run average that ranks 13th overall in the association.
Eric Nothstein (Palmerton, Pa.) Honorable Mention USCAA All-American
Nothstein headlined one of the top outfields in the PSUAC this season, patrolling each position at various times of the season and maintaining his place in the batting order as a pitcher and designated hitter as well. The junior slammed six home runs in 2022 to rank in the top ten in the USCAA while his .590 slugging percentage ranked in the top 25 nationally. Nothstein raked in 21 RBI to lead the Hazleton squad and hit .295 with 13 runs scored.
