Matt Kline Set to join the Nittany Lions
Matt Kline signs his letter of intent and will play baseball next year for the Penn State Hazleton Nittany Lions
Philadlephia native, Matt Kline, son of Paul Kline & Tina M. Semethy is set to join the Baseball team at Penn State Hazleton next year. Kilne is a 2022 graduate of Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia.
Anchoring down the outfield and playing third base as well at Roman Cathloci, Kline led his team to the second round of the Philadelphia League playoffs this past year. Even though the school failed to make the PIAA playoffs, he shined throughout the season making spectacular catches against the fence as well as leading the team in assist throwing out multiple runners at the plate.IN addition to playing for his high school team, Matt played for the Phillies Jr. All Star team. They made it all the way to the playoffs in North Carolina He also plays in the TSE league for the Surf. This past Spring, Matt was honored by the Philadelphia Phillies when he was invited to the stadium for his collegiate signing.
"Matt's athletisism and work ethic made him stand out as a player who would fit well in to the Penn State Hazleton Baseball Program. He is very talented and is a fantastic team player. I look for him to contribute right away next year, " said Head Baseball Coach, Jeff Nietz.
When not playing baseball, Matt enjoys playing basketball, gaming, and just hanging out. He is enrolled in the Division of Undergraduate Studies department at Penn State Hazleton where he will explore the many divisions of the curriculum to discover a major. When he made the decision to come to Hazleton, he stated, "Not only was it only athletes but also the campus along with the people I have met there each time I visited PSU Hazelton which guided my decision."
