#14 Men's basketball toppled by Penn State Wilkes-Barre, 89-55
HAZLETON, Pa. - Freshman Jordan Singletary (Houston, Tx.) scored 19 points and blocked six shots off the bench for Penn State Hazleton, but the Nittany Lions fell, 89-55, to Penn State Wilkes-Barre in a Penn State University Athletic Conference game on Monday afternoon.
Sophomore Tyreek Fairfax (Philadelphia, Pa.) was the only other Nittany Lion in double figures, finishing with 11 points. No other Hazleton player finished with more than eight points.
Wilkes-Barre grabbed an early lead in a rematch of the teams' Dec. 12 meeting, one that Hazleton (6-7, 4-4 PSUAC) won 64-59. The Lions, who would not trail, led by as many as 37 as they dominated most statistical categories on the night. The most significant difference came in the paint, where Wilkes-Barre outscored Hazleton 40-22 and won the rebounding battle, 45-25.
Six players finished in double figures for Wilkes-Barre, led by Emmanuel Young's 19 points off the bench. Bre'yan Jones added nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds as the Lions improved to 7-9 overall, 4-3 in the PSUAC.
Hazleton continues conference play on Wednesday, January 21 when they travel to Penn State Worthington Scranton for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off.
