Harper signs intent to compete for Penn State Hazleton
Hazleton, Pa. - Jeremy Harper of Mountain Top, Pa. signed a letter of commitment over the weekend, adding his name to the ranks of the Penn State Hazleton golf squad for the 2019-20 season. Joining Harper to celebrate the occasion were head coach Jason Martonick and Director of Athletics Patrice Lombard along with Harper parents, Paul and Mickey Harper. "It's an exciting time for all of us here at Penn State Hazleton" remarked Lombard. "Jeremy is an outstanding addition to our golf program and we welcome him to our family of student-athletes." Jeremy will graduate from Crestwood Area High School later this spring and become the second graduate from the local school to join the squad in recent years.
Harper completed an outstanding golf career at Crestwood last fall and has been a dominant player at the high school level for the past two seasons. As a junior, Harper helped his squad sweep the Tryba Tournament in the Wyoming Valley Conference and has played in numerous junior P.G.A. events in the Philadelphia area. Sporting a 1.0 handicap, Harper is poised to make an immediate impact on the team and in the Penn State University Athletic Conference. Head Coach Jason Martonick stated, "I am very excited for the start of the 2019 season and to what Jeremy can do on the golf course."
