Hazleton notches 4th place finish at Penn National
Mont Alto, Pa. - Penn National Golf Club was the site of the Penn State University Athletic Conference's first golf event of the season. Golfers were challenged on the Founders Course at Penn National, squaring off in a captain and crew event hosted by the Mont Alto Campus, who took home top honors in the event along with a team score of 59.
Hazleton, led by sophomores Colin Hoy (Harlysville, Pa.) and Jeremy Harper (Mountain Top, Pa.) along with freshmen Will Long (Honesdale, Pa.) and Clayton Kismal (Penn Lake, Pa.) posted an eight under par round good for fourth place in the event. Hazleton started out with back to back birdies to open their round and made the turn at nine with a score at five under par. A birdie on the par five 10th hole continued their solid run but the Lions were forced to grind out pars over their next five holes. Hazleton rallied for birdies at holes 16 and 18 to finish strong but came up short in the final standings.
