Harper and Rebarchick drive Lions to victory at Springfield CC
Springfield, Pa. - After a second place finish in Hazleton's season opening match at the Penn State Blue Course last week, Hazleton rebounded for their first win of the golf season, tackling Springfield Country Club's rolling hills for a team score of 313 to win the Penn State Brandywine Invitational.
Hazleton netted three of top six scores on the day with senior Jeremy Harper (Mountain Top, Pa.) tallying his second individual medal of the season with a two over par round of 72. Coming in second place on Monday was sophomore Joey Rebarchick (Hazleton, Pa.) who birdied four times on the day to earn his best career finish in PSUAC competition while senior Colin Hoy (Harlysville, Pa.) carded a 79 to finish in a tie for sixth place. Sophomore Kolton Weaver (Bloomsburg, Pa.) brought home the win for Hazleton with an 88, improving nearly 20 shots from his first outing of the season.
Next up: Hazleton will travel across the state to square off with the western campuses at the Penn State Fayette Invitational on Wednesday, September 21 at Duck Hollow Golf Club.
