Lehman, Pa. - The Nittany Lions cruised to a 5-0 victory on Wednesday as they took on conference opponent Penn State Wilkes-Barre, moving to 3-0 in Penn State University Athletic Conference play. Five Nittany Lions tacked on all five of their scores in the first half allowing Coach Witkowski to get some much needed rest for a number of regulars with Hazleton competing in it's fourth game in five days.
Hazleton controlled the tempo all afternoon earning 17 shots on goal compared to just five for the home team. Already boasting a one score lead, sophomore Kaleab Tekleyohannes (Gaithersburg, Md.) curled in a well placed free kick to keep the momentum rolling. Later in the half, senior Steven Principe (Jim Thorpe, Pa.) fired a rocket from 35 yards out, expanding the Hazleton advantage to a healthy margin.
Three other Nittany Lions got in on the action including junior Ben Pasukinis (Benton, Pa.), sophomore Sohail Ahmedshaker (Brooklyn, Ny.) and sophomore Moussa Diouf (Carteret, Nj.) who added his league best, 10th goal of the season. Sophomore keeper Brandon Yocum picked up the shut-out win in goal, notching a pair of saves on the day.
