Rhome earns second nod as PSUAC Pitcher of the Week
Hazleton, Pa. - Hazleton's sophomore ace was named pitcher of the week for the second time in three weeks for two outings in the circle last week versus Summit University and the University of Valley Forge. Combined for the week, Rhome threw 10 scoreless innings with just one hit allowed and struck out 15 batters to earn a pair of Lady Lion wins.
Rhome tossed the first no-hitter of her career on Tuesday, March 22 against Summit University, the first Lady Lion to throw a no-hitter in nearly five years. Rhome struck out six Defenders and allowed just one base runner via the walk. Two days later, Rhome was back in the circle taking on the University of Valley Forge where she mowed down nine Patriots via the strikeout. The sophomore allowed just three base runners all afternoon and surrendered just one hit in the fourth inning.
For the season Rhome now sits atop the PSUAC for starters with a 1.11 E.R.A., four wins and a league high 39 strikeouts.
