Hazleton headed to Akron, OH for USCAA National Championships
Hazleton, Pa. - Yesterday's United States Collegiate Athletic Association Softball Championship Selection Show provided some excitement for the Penn State Hazleton Lady Lions. After spending nearly all season in the top 10 of the USCAA Coaches Poll, the Lady Lions received a bid as the number six seed in the USCAA National Championships. The tournament will take place in Akron, Oh., beginning with the annual championship banquet on Sunday, May 15 followed by first round play on Monday, May 16th at Firestone Stadium.
With the number six seed, Penn State Hazleton will square of with the New Hampshire Technical Insitute on Monday, May 16 at 4:00 p.m. The teams last met at the 2015 Small College World Series where NHTI pulled out a seventh inning victory to eliminate Hazleton from the championship bracket.
