Gracee Garritson joins NIttany Lion Softball
Hazleton, Pa. - Gracee Garritson is set to hit the diamond for the Hazleton Nittany Lion Softball team. Garritson hails from Plain City, UT where she competed for one season at Fremont High School. Garritson helped the Fremont team to a regional championship and trip to the state playoffs but opted out of her senior season to compete with her competition team, the Utah Smash. Throughout her club team career, Garritson hit 24 home runs with a .431 batting average and an .860 fielding percentage as an outfielder.
"From the first time I met her on campus, I could tell that Gracee is a highly competitive and motivated player," said Head Coach Gabby Vuocolo. "She's an excellent hitter and her attitude will help not only her but her teammates as well throughout the season."
Garritson earned high honors in high school and earned cords for her studies in health science. For her undergraduate work at Penn State, Gracee plans to study criminal justice and potentially work as a crime scene investigator or work with the FBI. Garritson found Penn State Hazleton to be the perfect fit to continue her softball career but also be able to focus heavily on her academics and looks forward to the opportunity to help bring the Nittany Lions a conference championship.
