#5 Hazleton drops first round game against #4 Albany

Uniontown, PA - 5th seeded Penn State Hazleton (19-7) fell in the first round of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Tournament to the 4th seeded Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (15-8) by a score of 66-48.
Early foul trouble by the Lady Lions limited their defensive capabilities and gave the Albany Panthers frequent trips to the free throw line. The Panthers cashed in at the charity stripe to the tune of 17 for 20, allowing them to open up 16 point advantage going into halftime. Stricken by injuries coupled with a mounting number of personal fouls, Hazleton unable to threaten a 2nd comeback. Albany College continued to find players in paint and cruise to an 18 point victory.
Albany College was led by Taylor Sullivan who scored a double-double in the opening half and ended the game with with 17 points 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Alexa Schooley pitched in 17 points along with 9 rebounds and teammate Megan Serley added 15 points in the winning effort.
Penn State Hazleton was led by USCAA All-American Alexis Daly (Wyalusing, PA) who finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Despite the loss, Daly's 14 point output, elevates her to the top of list, making her Penn State Hazleton's all-time leading scorer.
The Lady Lions fail to advance in USCAA competition, but will play in a consolation round on Friday at 4PM vs. 8th seeded Penn State Fayette.
