Prutsman named player of the year in the east

State College, Pa. - The votes are in and on Thursday afternoon it was announced that senior Mckenzie Prutsman (Jasper, Ny.) earned player of the year honors in the Penn State University Athletic Conference's eastern division.

Prutsman was a force to be reckoned with in 2018-19 and coaches around the conference agreed. The senior point guard established herself early on as the top scorer in the conference and continued to raise her totals throughout the year. Her average of 28.3 points per game ranked second in the country and the top mark in the PSUAC, a full 10.5 points more than her nearest colleague. Prutsman was held under 20 points in a game just three times this season and notched 30 or more 10 times throughout the year. Not only a premier scorer, the senior excelled in all facets of the game, leading the conference in steals with 110 swipes, free throws attempted and free throw percentage, while ranking third in the PSUAC with 4.4 assists per night.

Beginning on January 30, the senior made her run towards history, reeling off five consecutive games of 30 or points including tying a career high with 43 against top ranked Lehigh Valley. That streak would end on February 9 at Penn State Fayette but in the process, Prutsman would break the record for most career points and go on to set a new bar of 1,888 points for her illustrious career.
