Bry'Yasia Costen commits to Penn State Hazleton
Hazleton, Pa. - Bry'Yasia Costen is set to join the Hazleton Nittany Lion Women's Basketball squad for the 2023-24 season. Costen is a three-plus year veteran from the varsity basketball team at Ashley Ridge High School in South Carolina where she played the point and shooting guard positions.
"Bry'Yasia is a strong guard that can score on all three levels.", said Head Coach Jeff Onushco. "She can shoot the three, has a good mid-range shot and can drive strong to the basket. Her passing ability and defensive game will give us a lot of versatility at the guard positions."
Costen is looking forward to expanding her academic and athletic skill-set while working with a diverse group of athletes and coaches. "Basketball has provided me with discipline, a positive attitude, determination and a wealth of enjoyment.", said Costen. "My goal is to reach my full aptitude in regard to the game of basketball while pursuing a degree in computer engineering during my time at Penn State."
Bry'Yasia plans to pursue a career working in the video game industry, creating software for people of all ages. When not competing on the basketball court, Costen enjoys spending time with her parents and three siblings who reside in her hometown of Ladson, Sc. and enjoys playing the drums at her church, watching movies, playing video games and working out to remain fit.
