Lehman, Pa. - Hazleton put a stop to their recent five game slide on Wednesday night when the Nittany Lions traveled to Penn State Wilkes-Barre for their second meeting of the PSUAC regular season. The Lions out-hit Wilkes-Barre 19-9 in the kills column, seven service aces and successfully took advantage of Wilkes-Barre miscues to take home the victory in three sets.

Wilkes-Barre got within four points of the Lions late in the first set but closed out the frame on a 5-1 run to win 25-15. The Lions offered up a dominant effort in set two, winning 25-6 before hanging on for the sweep with a 25-16 win in the final stanza. Kayla Nothstein (Palmerton, Pa.) led Hazleton with eight kills and four service aces on the night while Ally Banta (Coatesville, Pa.) dished out a game high 13 assists in the win, moving Hazleton's conference record in the right direction at 2-6.

Next up: Hazleton will not be participating in the PSUAC non-league games over the weekend in State College, Pa. and will next take the court on Wednesday, September 13 when Hazleton is slated to take on Penn State Schuylkill in Schuylkill Haven, Pa. After a close battle with Schuylkill in the teams' first meeting of the year, the Lions will look to steal a victory on the road and move closer to the .500 mark.
