Mackenzie Riccardi Signs WIth Penn State Hazleton Vollleyball
Boonton Township, NJ native Mackenzie Riccardi signs her letter of intent and will play Volleyball next year for the Penn State Hazleton Nittany Lions
The Hazleton Nittany Lion Volleyball team found the missing piece to their they needed with the addition of Mackenzie Riccardi to the 2022-23 roster. Riccardi is a resident of Boonton Township, NJ and is a reccent graduate of Mountain Lakes High School. She is the daughter of Glenn and Loralyn Riccardi.
Mackenzie lettered as the team's setter during her junior and senior years at Mountain Lakes HS, leading the volleyball squad to a first place finish in their league's division and participating in the New Jersey state playoffs for the first time in school history. During her career Mackenzie amassed 221 assists, 11 kills, 58 digs, 61 points, and collected 22 aces in her senior season. She also plays Volleyball for Elite Volleyball Club of New Jersey and has won numerous medals in national tournaments. Before she began her volleyball career, Mackenzie was a gymnast who competed at the Junior Olympic level where she excelled and won numerous titles.
"We were missig an extremely important key player when we lost our four-year starting setter to graduation, and now we found her" said head coach Noel Kaufman. "Mackenzie brings a spunky attitude to the team. After speaking with her and her mom, they both said she never gives up - which was clear when I saw her films. I'm excited to see how she and our front row work together"
Off the court, Maclenzie likes to work out, specifically lifting weights. She loves to hang out with her friends and loves spending time with her family. She plans to major in the Division of Undergraduate Studies until she discovers her intended major. She is currently leaning toward Criminal Justice, but has yet to declare a specific major.
