Game 1: Penn State Hazleton 3, Penn College 0
Penn State Hazleton Women's Volleyball continued their season this Saturday with a home game against Penn College.
Hazleton took the first set of the game, playing impressive defense and only allowing eleven points. The Lions scored a total of 4 straight points to secure their first set. In the second set of the game, it was back and forth between Penn College and the Nittany Lions. Towards the end of the set Hazleton took control and came out on top 22-25, with the help of a costly serving error from Penn College. The Lions took the third and final set they needed to secure their win, with 4 straight points again from Hazleton's Kyla Harry.
Game 2: Penn State Hazleton 1, Delaware Valley University 3
Penn State Women's Volleyball continued their doubleheader on Saturday with a game against Delaware Valley.
The Nittany Lions came out ready and continued to bring the heat in the start of the second game, winning the first set 25-18. In the second set of the game Hazleton's momentum began to shift and the Lions were struggling to make those crucial points only scoring ten points and allowing Delaware Valley to take the set 25-10. Coming into the third set the Lions were lagging but found a way to came back from their deficit to tie at 13-13, but Hazleton could not keep it up and fell behind again, losing the set 25-19.
Now trailing in the match, the Nittany Lions fought hard to extend the game to a tiebreaker set but failed to overcome the impressive offensive of Delaware Valley, who registered 10 kills in the fourth frame compared to just five for the Lions. The Aggies used a 6-1 run late in the frame to build a comfortable lead, holding on for a 25-16 set win, taking the match three sets to one.
The Hazleton Women's Volleyball next game will be a home match against Wilkes University this Tuesday September 10th at 7:00 p.m.
