Ryan Aten is a Bloomsburg area native and graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in Recreation and Leisure Administration in 2005. Aten joined the Penn State family in 2007 as the assistant coordinator of student activities where he planned and implemented campus activities while assisting with intramural sport programs.
In 2012 Aten officially joined the athletics department as the first sports information director in campus history with a focus on statistics and coordinating publicity for student-athletes. In 2013, Aten was promoted to the head of student activities at the campus while retaining sports information duties and continued that role through the fall of 2014.
In February of 2015, Aten transitioned full-time into the athletics department as the assistant director of athletics. Under this new position, Aten is responsible for game-day management of intercollegiate athletic events, physical education building operations, website content, maintenance and design, coordinating intramural sport programs, and various forms of traditional and social media content.
Aten is an avid sports enthusiast and currently resides in Berwick, Pennsylvania. A former District IV champion in basketball for Bloomsburg High School, Aten now enjoys playing golf, winter sports, fishing and is an annual coach for the Penn State Hazleton basketball school each summer.
