Brister and Wess earn PSUAC All-Conference Honors
Hazleton, Pa. - With the 2024 seasons at a close, the Penn State Hazleton Baseball squad saw two members make their way on to the PSUAC All-Conference Team. First year player Zach Brister earned a spot on the exclusive list as one of Hazleton's top pitchers this season while veteran outfielder Eddie Wess was named to the squad for a third straight season.
Zach Brister (Clark Summit, Pa.) Honorable Mention All-Conference Pitcher - First year player Zach Brister made nine appearances in 2024, including six starts. Of any Hazleton pitcher throwing more than 30 innings in 2024, Brister held the lowest earned run average, allowing 4.40 earned runs per nine innings. Brister tied for the team lead in wins with a 3-2 overall record including a 3-2 win over Penn State York on March 29 when the hurler was one out shy of a complete game win. Brister allowed five hits or less in his final four starts of the season, all of which came in conference play and the first year player finished the year with 21 strikeouts.
Eddie Wess (East Stroudsburg, Pa.) Honorable Mention All-Conference Outfielder - Wess completed his fourth year of competition this season and for the third time in three years, Wess lands himself a spot on the All-Conference team. As has been the trend, Wess ranked among the top Hazleton hitters, finishing the year with a .299 batting average and the team lead in hits with 29 on the year. Wess had seven games with multiple hits this year to go along with six doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI. In year four, Wess continued to be a major threat on the base paths, notching 15 stolen bases and scoring a team-high 27 runs.
