Gus Alvarez hits the diamond for Hazleton in 2024-25

Hazleton, Pa. - The Hazleton Nittany Lion baseball team adds outfielder Gus Alvarez to the 2024-25 roster. Alvarez played three seasons on the varsity baseball squad at Halifax high school, helping the Wildcats to a Class A state championship in 2021. Gus will be pursuing a degree in the Physical Therapy Assistant program while attending Penn State Hazleton and competing on with the baseball program.

"We've had several players from Halifax do very well for us in recent years and I expect the same from Gus as he gears up for his collegiate baseball career," said Head Coach Ian McCole. "Gus will be a big part of this year's team and add depth to our outfield, so I expect good things from him during his first season in uniform."
