Student-athletes earn United States Collegiate Athletic Association recognition
Hazleton, Pa. - Five Penn State Hazleton student-athletes earned All-American recognition by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Thursday for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. Kyle Venditti (Berwick, Pa.) earned All-American status as an honorable mention for men's soccer while several classmates received academic awards.
#2 Kyle Venditti (Forward/Midfield) USCAA All-American Honorable Mention
Junior Kyle Venditti was honored on Wednesday for his outstanding play during the 2015 men's soccer season. Venditti's 19 goals and 13 assists in 2015 led all Nittany Lions and ranked him fifth in the country for total points scored amongst all other USCAA competitors. In a season full of high-powered offense, the junior forward supplied the Nittany Lions with six multi-goal games including two hat-tricks. On September 17 in a win at Penn State Worthington Scranton, Venditti netted an eight point output on a day where he scored three goals while passing for two assists. On October sixth at Williamson Tech, Venditti tallied seven points with a two-goal, three-assist performance to lead all scorers. The forward's top-notch play this season helped earn his squad an 11-5 overall record and a postseason berth in the Penn State University Athletic Conference Soccer Championships.
National All-Academic Team
Four Penn State Hazleton student-athletes received honors for their work in the classroom while participating in fall sports at the campus. Sophomores Arielle Zahodnick (Giradville, Pa.), Jimmy Fisher (Glen Allen, Va.) and Michael Principe (Lake Harmony, Pa.) earned honors for Penn State Hazleton Soccer while sophomore Jessenia Wright garnered the award for Penn State Hazleton Women's Volleyball. Members of the National All-Academic team are students in their third semester or higher who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
