New Kensington, Pa. - The Nittany Lions struggle to find the back of the net continued on Sunday as Hazleton fell to Penn State New Kensington by the score of 2-0. Sunday's loss marked the fourth straight shut-out for the Nittany Lions who fall to 1-6 on the season and 0-2 in Penn State University Athletic Conference play.
Hazleton fell behind in the 22 minute following a score by Andrew Perenic and a tough luck score in the final moments of the the period left the Lions trailing 2-0 at the half. The Hazleton defense was on point in the second half as sophomore Jean-Louis Sunther Jr. pitched a clean sheet in the goal, totaling six saves in the final period, but the Lions failed to convert that defense into offensive opportunities.
Next up: It's five days off for the Nittany Lions before play resumes next weekend. Hazleton will continue PSUAC play on Satuday when they host Penn State Beaver at 2:00 p.m.
