Erin Field joins Hazleton Softball
Hazleton, Pa. - Coming off a successful run in the PSUAC and a berth in the 2022 Small College World Series, the Hazleton Nittany Lion softball team continues to build towards a championship with the addition of Erin Field to the 2022-23 roster. Field, a resident of Lewisburg, Pa. is the daughter of Deborah and John Field and has been a four-year starter and senior captain for the Dragons at Lewisburg Area High School.
Field thrives on the diamond as a third baseman and utility player, helping the Dragons to a 14-3 record and the number two seed in the 2022 PIAA District IV playoffs. This will be Lewisburg's third post-season appearance in Erin's four years with the team, during which Field has been named an Honorable Mention All-Conference player as a freshman and junior.
When Field arrives at Penn State Hazleton in August, she will be reuniting with a familiar face in head coach Jeff Tomb who also helm's Field's travel team, the PA Riot. "Erin has been playing very well this season and she is going to help us at many different positions in the years to come," said Tomb. "She has a great work ethic and will definitely make the team a better hitting squad."
Off the diamond, Erin has excelled academically throughout high school, earning her way onto the Distinguished Honor Roll for four years as well as the Spanish National Honors Society. At Hazleton, Field plans to major in Kinesiology and is excited for the opportunity to push herself on and off the field, eventually working her way towards a career working with athletes and improving their performance. "Penn State Hazleton has an amazing coaching staff that creates a family atmosphere," stated Field. "I'm looking forward to obtaining a degree from Penn State with the added bonus of being able to continue my softball career."
