Six finish with double figures in 89-44 Lady Lion win over Central Penn
HAZLETON, Pa. - Freshman Alison Vincent (Ashville, Pa.) scored a career-high 12 points and finished as one of six Penn State Hazleton players in double figures as the Lady Lions topped Central Penn College, 89-44, in a non-conference game in the Dr. Thomas Caccese Gymnasium.
Vincent was joined by junior Alexis Daly (Wyalusing, Pa.) with 12 points, while freshman Jacqlyn Siva-Harrison (Monmouth Junction, NJ) added 11. Sophomores Kyana Willoughby (Union City, NJ) and Stephanie Guevara (North Brunswick, NJ) each scored 10 points. Senior Taylor Cannon (Hazleton, Pa.), who was honored prior to the game for scoring her 1,000th career point the night before, added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Hazleton (8-1, 3-0 PSUAC) continued their strong shooting, finishing 38-for-79 from the field, good for 48 percent. But defense was the name of the game for Hazleton this night, as they forced 22 turnovers that turned into 31 points. The Lady Lions also outrebounded Central Penn, 49-27, and held the Knights to 34 percent shooting.
Next up for Hazleton is a weekend road trip to Penn State Greater Allegheny and Penn State Beaver. Saturday pits the Lady Lions at Greater Allegheny at 4:00 p.m., with a showdown at Beaver set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
