Hazleton, Pa. - Freshman Scarlet Vargas (Bronx, Ny.) emerged as the top scorer for the Lady Lions during the 2019-20 season. Vargaas averaged just under 15 points per game, ranking her 6th in the Penn State University Athletic Conference's eastern division. From beyond the arc, Vargas connected on 30.5 percent of her attempts and ranked second in the PSUAC with 2.9 three point shots made per outing. Midway through the season, Vargas transitioned to the point guard position but still managed to put up solid numbers for the Lady Lions. She topped double figures in 17 of 23 games played while coming in as the team's third leading rebounder, rounding out an excellent first season in a Penn State Hazleton uniform.
