Hazleton catcher earns honorable mention
Hazleton, Pa. - Hazleton junior Aaron Glass (Shippensburg, Pa.) was named honorable mention all-conference by the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Sunday. After an injury shortened season in 2015, the catcher bounced back to elite status with an outstanding performance in 2016 as the Nittany Lion backstop and clean-up hitter.
Despite the grueling schedule and rigors of catching behind the plate, the junior played in all 27 games for Hazleton. Glass hit .343 for the Nittany Lions in 2016, leading the team in batting average and runs driven in with 15 RBI while tying three others on the squad with one home run. Glass's top performance of the season came against the University of Valley Forge on March 24th. The catcher went five for seven at the plate in the double-header, scoring three times, driving in five runs and swiping three bases in a pair of wins for Hazleton.
