Ordoñez joins Lady Lion Softball

Hazleton, Pa. - From the Big Apple to Hazleton, Pa., Angie Ordoñez is set to continue her athletic and academic journey in 2019-20. The recent grad from the Bronx, Ny. penned her named to join the Lady Lion softball squad next season during a recent visit to Penn State Hazleton. 

Ordoñez played shortstop and outfield for the Crusaders of Monsignor Scanlan High School in the Bronx and excelled year after year. Ordoñez was named team MVP during the 2016-17 season and won a pair of awards during the regional tournament including Best Glove and the Most Heart award. During the 2018-19 campaign, Ordoñez hit .780 at the dish, adding three home runs, 32 RBI and 27 runs scored. In 53 total chances in the field, she committed just three errors which netted a .943 fielding percentage and 28 put outs. Those high marks on the diamond earned the senior a nod with the All-City team and a second MVP award with the Crusaders. 

Now set to continue her education at Penn State Hazleton in the fall, Ordoñez will pursue a degree in Business while looking to help the Lady Lions toward a Penn State University Athletic Conference Championship.
