Women's Volleyball falls to Central Penn in straight sets
HAZLETON, Pa. -- Penn State Hazleton women's volleyball dropped a non-conference match to Central Penn College, 3-0 (25-27, 16-25, 16-25), in the Dr. Thomas Caccese Gymnasium on Tuesday night.
The first set was back and forth, as the teams traded blows and spent most of the set tied. Central Penn was able to secure the final two points for a 27-25 win, and a 1-0 lead. Hazleton (1-7, 1-4 PSUAC) fell behind early in the second set, and could not recover from several unforced errors that gave the Knights a cushion and a 25-16 win. Central Penn followed the same pattern in the third set, jumping out to an early lead and keeping the match out of reach for the Nittany Lions.
Hazleton returns to the court this weekend as they host two quad matches. Penn State Fayette and Penn State New Kensington will travel east to face the Nittany Lions and Penn State Lehigh Valley on Saturday. Sunday brings Penn State Greater Allegheny and Penn State Beaver to campus, as Lehigh Valley returns as well. Games are scheduled for 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. both days, as both volleyball courts will be in use.
