MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Hazleton Women's Volleyball's struggles continued on Saturday, as the Nittany Lions dropped a conference doubleheader during a quad match at Penn State Brandywine. Penn State University Athletic Conference opponents Penn State Schuylkill and host Penn State Brandywine topped Hazleton in identical 3-0 wins.
Penn State Schuylkill - 3, Penn State Hazleton - 0
Schuylkill took advantage on the neutral site to beat Hazleton 3-0 (18-25, 25-27, 20-25). The win was the first of the season for Schuylkill and was the Nittany Lions' 10th straight loss during their current slide.
Penn State Brandywine - 3, Penn State Hazleton - 0
Brandywine jumped out to early leads each set to grab a 3-0 (6-25, 9-25, 6-25) win over Hazleton in a PSUAC contest. The Nittany Lions (1-14, 1-11 PSUAC) struggled to gain traction against the third place team in the PSUAC.
Tina Beiland (Philadelphia, Pa.) had two digs and an assist for Hazleton, but the offensive struggles for the Lions continued as no player recorded more than one kill.
Brandywine was led by Nicole Poissant with seven kills, three service aces and 13 assists. Miranda Biondi added match-highs with seven aces and 18 assists, to go along with her five digs.
Hazleton returns to the court on Sunday, October 5 for the final leg of their two-day quad match weekend as they head to Penn State York to face Penn State Mont Alto and host York. Those matches are set for 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., respectively.
