Men's Golf 3rd in PSUAC, 16th overall after day 1 of USCAA & PSUAC Championships
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State Hazleton sits in third place after day one in the PSUAC, and 16th overall in the USCAA Golf National Championships. The PSUAC and USCAA Championship events are held concurrently at the Penn State Golf Courses.
Ty Morzilla (Berwick, Pa.) paced the Nittany Lions with an 89, his worst round of the season. Morzilla is tied for 69th in the field of 126. Gary Hunt (Berwick, Pa.) carded a 93 on the par 72 layout, while Brandon Haydt (Berwick, Pa.) and Ryan Stashko (Berwick, Pa.) each finished the day with a 94 to round out Hazleton's team scoring. Garrett Madison (Canadensis, Pa.) shot 95 and Erin Gilligan (Pembroke, NH) shot 97.
Hazleton's team total of 370 puts them 16th out of 25 in the USCAA, and third out of six PSUAC teams. Daemen College leads the tournament at 308, while Penn State Lehigh Valley is 22 strokes ahead of Hazleton in the PSUAC portion of the event. Penn State DuBois is second in the PSUAC at 356.
The event will resume on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. at the Penn State Blue Course.
