Cannon, Daly receive PSUAC conference honors
Two Hazleton Women's Basketball players received all-conference honors on Thursday for outstanding playing throughout the 2014-15 season. Senior Taylor Cannon (Hazleton, PA) was named Second Team All-Conference in the PSUAC while her teammate, Junior Alexis Daly (Wyalusing, PA) was named First Team All-Conference and selected as the PSUAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year.
Taylor Cannon – The Senior forward had another outstanding season in her final campaign as a student-athlete for Hazleton. Cannon ranked 9th overall in the PSUAC in scoring averaging 13.3 points per game and 9th overall in rebounding as well averaging 7.8 rebounds per game. One December 3rd, Taylor surpassed the 1,000 point mark becoming the 4th women's basketball player in school history to accomplish the feat. Taylor helped lead her team to the PSUAC final where she scored a game high 31 points.
Alexis Daly – The two-time United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-American adds more honors to her list of achievements being named First Team All-Conference and PSUAC Player of the Year. Daly averaged a double-double throughout the year ranking her 2nd overall in scoring at 16.6 points per game and 3rd overall in rebounding at 10.5 rebounds per game. Daly led all PSUAC scorers for year totaling 416 points on the season. On November 21, Daly became the 3rd Lady Lion to reach 1,000 career points and is poised to become Hazleton's all-time leading scorer. Daly willed her team to its first post season victory in 2015 against PSU Fayette where she had season highs in both points and rebounding, accumulating 34 points and 21 rebounds.
