Spectator Code of Conduct
Penn State Hazleton Athletics is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for spectators of all ages. The Athletics Department has instituted the following policies and expectations to ensure that your experience as a fan is consistent with our goals.
The following behaviors are prohibited at athletic events which may result in ejection from the venue, arrest and prosecution from authorities. The campus reserves the right to ban unruly spectators from future events.
- Foul, abusive or inciteful language (including sexist, racist and other discriminatory behavior and gestures) directed at officials, student-athletes, coaches, campus personnel or other spectators.
- Interference with game progress including but not limited to:
- Altercations with opposing fans.
- Trespassing in restricted areas such as the playing surface, bench areas, scorer’s table or locker rooms.
- Throwing items onto the playing surface.
- Behavior or actions that indicate alcohol or other impairment of any kind.
- Failing to follow instructions or directives from campus personnel or police.
We encourage the following behaviors that promote a safe and exciting collegiate sports environment.
- Represent your team with honor, dignity and respect.
- Applaud great play from all participating student-athletes.
- Be a positive role model for those around you.
- Be loud, stand up, and positively cheer for your team during appropriate times throughout a game.
- If you see something, say something.
