Prutsman named national player of the week
Norfolk, Va. - Senior Mckenzie Prutsman (Jasper, Ny.) earned Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week honors on Tuesday afternoon after another outstanding week in her final season as a Lady Lion. Prutsman led Hazleton to a pair of wins coming out of the winter break, putting up big numbers in the process.
The senior nearly accumulated a quadruple double in Monday's win over Schuylkill, totaling 24 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and eight steals and followed that effort with 26 points at Penn State Scranton on January 9. Prustman capped her stellar week with a 14-for-22 night from the field, notching 35 points in Saturday's win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Prutsman's 35 points were her second highest scoring output of the season, adding 10 rebounds, five assists and seven swipes in the game. With 22 of her 35 points coming in the first half, Prutsman eclipsed the career 1,500 point mark, becoming the third player in program history to reach the milestone.
