Ryan Turant Committment Adds Depth to the Nittany Lion Baseball Program
Pittston, PA native Ryan Turant has agreed to commit to attend Penn State Hazleton and continue his baseball career with the Nittany Lions. Turant will add much-needed depth to the Lions roster.
The Hazleton Nittany Lion baseball team solidifies their roster with the addition of Ryan Turant to the 2022-23 roster. Turant is a resident of Pittston, Pa. who graduated this past spring from Pittston Area High School. He is the son of Chris and Colleen Turant, and has a sister, Kearney.
Ryan was a multi-position player during his three-year varsity career at Pittston Area, playing first base and taking on some pitching duties. In addition to his high school career, Ryan has also enjoyed success playing travel ball for the Northeast Expos and for the Greater Pittston Legion Program.
"Ryan has a great combination of intelligence, work-ethic and attitude that will help our program get to the next level," said head coach Jeff Nietz. "I'm thrilled to see him get the opportunity to continue to play collegiate baseball while pursuing a Penn State education. He most definitely adds a great deal of depth to our roster heading into next season!"
Off the field, Ryan is an honor roll student and is very committed to his academics. He plans to major in Business Administration while at Penn State Hazleton; his goal as a student is to maintain at least a 3.5 gpa while playing baseball. When not playing baseball, Ryan loves to fish and hang out with friends. When asked about why he chose Penn State Hazleton over other schools and campuses, he very quickly replied, "I fell in love with campus as soon as I step foot on it, so athletics took a backseat because this is where I wanted to be!"
Welcome to the Pride, Ryan!
