Singletary and Brathwaite Earn PSUAC Honors

Sophomores Jordan Singletary (Houston, Tx.) and Royce Brathwaite (Pocono Summit, Pa.) were honored Monday by the Penn State University Athletic Conference for their top notch efforts in the 2015-16 men's basketball season. 

#33 Jordan Singletary - The Nittany Lions top big man averaged a double-double statistically in 2015-16 and racked up 17 such games this season earning him second team all-conference honors by the PSAUC. Singletary was second on the squad in scoring, netting 14.1 points per game, the 17th highest average in the PSUAC and his 53.8 field goal percentage was sixth highest in the conference.

The sophomore made his biggest waves defensively and with his work on the boards. Singletary led the PSUAC , averaging 2.7 shots blocked a night and blew away the field in rebounding, notching 13.7 rebounds per game, nearly three more rebounds a night more than the next closest competitor.  

Singletary had a number of stellar performances in 2015-16, but perhaps his most impressive effort came against Penn State DuBois on December 5, 2015. The sophomore grabbed 24 rebounds including 11 on the offensive end and went 9-15 from the field to total 21 points on the night. 

 

#2 Royce Brathwaite - Hazleton's top scorer averaged 16.9 points per contest, the 12th highest scoring average in the PSUAC, earning Brathwaite an honorable mention nod from the conference. The sophomore led the team in free throw attempts and makes, garnering an 84.6 percentage from the stripe, good for second best in the PSUAC and his 88 makes from the charity stripe were the seventh highest total in the conference.

A constant threat from beyond the arc, Brathwaite connected on 52 triples in 2015-16, the eighth most in the PSUAC. On January 30, the sophomore shot 5-9 from long distance and 6-6 from the free throw to net 27 points in an overtime victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley, then notched a career high 30 points on February 12 against Penn State Greater Allegheny, connecting on a season high six triples.
