Maine-Fort Kent Uses Srong Second Half To Down PSU Hazleton
Traveling from the great north to Hazleton The University of Maine-Fort Kent got a great contribution from their bench as Tom Enerva subbed in and scored 19 points to hand Penn State Hazleton a 76-62 loss in the Dr. Thomas M. Cacesse Gymnasium last night.
The Penn State Hazleton men's basketball team fell to the University of Maine - Fort Kent, 76-62, Monday night at the Dr. Thomas M. Cacesse Gymnasium. The Lions drop to 3-8 on the season while the Ravens improve to 11-6.
Jonathan Fogarty came off the bench and led the Lions with 16 points all from inside the three point line as well as grabbing 4 rebounds. Robbie Hopkins added 15 points, hitting three 3 point shots and pulled down 3 rebounds for the Lions. Enerva led all scorers with 19 points and 14 rebounds coming off the bench. Anthony Knight pumped in 17 points for the Bengals while teammate Troy Williams added 10 points to the cause.
Hazleton jumped out to a 29-22 lead in the first half, shooting 34.6% from the floor and 16.7% from behind the arc. In the second half, the Bengals picked up their defensive intensity and took the lead at the 12 minute mark. Shooting a torrid 52.2% from the floor and 30.8% from behind the 3 point line the Benglas pulled away from the Lions and in the end Maine-Fort Kent held on the the win.
With that loss Hazlton drops to 11-6 overall while Maine goes to 11-6 on the season. The Lions are back in action Friday as they travel to Penn State Fayette to return to conference play. The Bengals continued their southern swing visiting PSU Beaver today besting them 58-53 to go to 12-6.
