Brandon Burbank to join Penn State Hazleton Basketball
Hazleton, Pa. - Brandon Burbank is gearing up for the college game this fall as he signs on to compete with the Hazleton Nittany Lion Basketball squad. Burbank, a forward from Mountain Top, Pa. competed with the Crestwood Comets for four seasons, including two at the varsity level. There, Burbank averaged just under 10 points per game, shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc and just under 50 percent from standard range. As a senior, Brandon co-captained the Comets and was invited to participate in the Dr. George P. Moses All-Star Classic, a game reserved for the top basketball players in the Wyoming Valley Conference. In addition to his high school success, Burbank has also been developing his game with the My Sky Elite AAU travel team in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. since the seventh grade.
Brandon's journey to Penn State Hazleton has been a long time in the making. "Brandon is a young man we are very familiar with and happy to add to our program.", said Head Coach Jeff Rush. "In elementary and middle school, he often attended the Penn State Hazleton Summer Basketball Camp, and we've followed him through his time at Crestwood where he played for one of the best coaches in Northeast Pennsylvania under Coach Atherton. Brandon's fundamentals, knowledge of the game and playing experience will have him ready to play and contribute at our level and we're happy to welcome him to Penn State Hazleton."
Brandon is just now realizing his goals to compete at the collegiate level with Penn State Hazleton Basketball, one he has had for many years. Brandon plans to hold himself to the highest athletic and academic standards and is interested in pursuing a degree in forensic science/criminal justice or engineering.
