Mark Lusk joins Nittany Lions for 2019 season
Hazleton, Pa. - With the 2019 golf season just weeks away, the Nittany Lions are pleased to announce the addition of Mark Lusk to the ranks of the Hazleton golf squad. Hailing from Drums, Pa., Lusk has already made a name for himself as top young talent in the area and will look to continue to build on that success against Penn State University Athletic Conference competition. Mark, the son of Abigail Frederick and the late John Lusk, graduated from the Immanuel Christian School in 2019 and plans to study the sciences at Penn State.
In 2016, Lusk won the club championship in the men's division at Sugarloaf Golf Club, firing a combined two-day total of 145 at his home course. Lusk followed that victory with a string of solid finishes in Lehigh Valley Junior Golf tournaments over the past two years including single day victories at Southmore Golf Course and Iron Lakes Country Club in 2017 and a first place finish in the Junior World Golf Championships, Pennsylvania Qualifying Event at Schuylkill Country Club in June of 2018. Mark credits much of his early success to his strong iron play and short game, noting that improving his driving game from the tee will go a long way towards winning at the collegiate level.
