Babinchak hits the links for Penn State Hazleton
Hazleton, Pa. - Local graduate, Jacob Babinchak will be striking the golf ball this fall for the Penn State Hazleton Golf team. Jake graduated last spring from the Hazleton Area Academy of the Sciences where he earned the highest honors academically and was a distinguished graduate in the top 30 of his class. Jake participated with the Hazleton Area High School golf team for all four years of high school, earning his way into the District II singles tournament on three occasions and was captain of the golf team during his final year in high school.
"Jake has a great opportunity to be a major contributor to the program this season," said Head Coach Ryan Aten. "His love for the game motivates him to keep getting better every day and once he gets some matches under his belt, I expect to see him compete at a high level."
Babinchak is excited to begin his collegiate journey and felt that the Hazleton program was the right fit to continue his education and golf career. Jake plans to major in mechanical engineering at the University and wants to maintain a high grade point average and graduate summa cum laude. On the golf course, Jake's goal is to keep improving and lowering his scores by becoming a more consistent player.
