Whitenight and Wrobleski earn conference honors
State College, Pa. - Two of Hazleton's top athete's in men's soccer gained recognition earlier this week for their efforts on the pitch in 2018. Junior's Isaac Whitenight (Benton, Pa.) and Aaron Wrobleski (Mountain Top, Pa.) play at different ends of the field but their talents impressed equally, earning All-Conference nods in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.
#13 Isaac Whitenight - Second Team All-Conference Defender
The junior defender may not get the opportunity to fill up the box score but Whitenight's presence in the backfield was impressive in third season as a Nittany Lion. Whitenight organzied the defensive unit and made countless stops for Hazleton, utilizing his speed, size and toughness to get the job done. As a three year starter, Whitenight assumed the role of captain in 2018 and his leadership and experience proved invaluable down that stretch as the Lions made a late push for the post-season.
#10 Aaron Wrobleski - Honorable Mention Forward
In his first season as a Nittany Lion, Wrobleski quickly moved up the ranks to become Hazleton's top offensive threat. The junior excelled in the forward position, using his creativity and ball control skills to produce opportunities for himself and his teammates. Wrobleski led the Lions with seven goals and four assists, ranking 12th in the conference in goals scored and total points. His best effort came on October 10 in a must win game for the Lions against Penn State Scranton. The junior played a role in all three of Hazleton's scores, knocking in a pair of goals and assisting on a third score, keeping Hazleton in the playoff hunt with a 3-1 win over Scranton.
