Dunmore, Pa. - The Nittany Lions dropped their straight game on Saturday, falling on the road to Penn State Scranton by the score of 7-0. Hazleton was out-shot in the game by a substantial margin of 28-6 to be kept off the scoreboard for the first time all season.
Saturday's game got off to a rocky start for the Nittany Lions. Scranton pushed the ball up field and controlled the tempo of play, leading to a flurry of shot attempts and five early goals in the first 19 minutes of play. Following the early onslaught, Hazleton righted the ship defensively but the damage was too much to overcome for the young Hazleton squad. The Lions went on to surrender two additional goals to the home team Scranton, coming in the 30th and 35th minutes of play, but went on to keep a clean sheet for the remainder of the action including the entirety of the second half. First year player Mac Kline stepped into the goal midway through the first half for Hazleton, stopping seven of nine shot attempts from the Scranton squad.
Hazleton will look to build off their second half effort as they continue conference play this coming Saturday, September 21 when the Lions host Penn State Beaver on the Hazleton campus at 4:00 p.m.
