Stauffer and the Lions defense prevail in duel vs. St. Joe's of Brooklyn
Akron, OH - The Lady Lions took the field at Firestone Stadium mere moments after their game two victory to square off against St. Joseph's of Brooklyn. Both squads pitched and played outstanding defense, but Sara Stauffer shined for the Lady Lions as she kept the St. Joe's hitters at bay until her teammates delivered her the lead. Stauffer remained just as effective working with the lead as she allowed just three base runners from the fourth inning on as Hazleton claimed it's second victory of the day by a score of 2-1.

Top 2: Anrea Quillman leads off the frame with a triple to right field. The Lady Lions are unable to cash in with a runner on third and no one out as St. Joe's induces a strikeout and two pop ups in foul terrertory to escape the inning unharmed.
Top 4: Kaitlyn Kuluzny and Sara Stauffer hit consecutive doubles to lead off the inning. This time with runners aboard, Quillman comes through for the Lady Lions, driving in both runners on a single to left field, breaking the stalemate and putting Hazleton up 2-0.
Bottom 7: An error in the Hazleton outfield puts a St. Joe's runner in scoring position for the first time since the third inning. Sara Stauffer rises to the challenge, inducing two ground ball outs to the next two batters. Hazleton trades a run for an out but remains ahead by one with two out. Destiny Marino hits a hard fly ball to center field, but Brandi Grunza tracks it down to end the game 2-1.
