Lady Lions season comes to a close with second loss to Briarcliffe
Akron, OH - The Lady Lions amazing season came to a close on Wednesday afternoon as Penn State Hazleton lost to Briarcliffe College by a score of 1-0 in the fifth place game at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series. The Lady Lions out-hit the Bulldogs four hits to two, but were unable to move any runners past second base in a game dominated by pitching and defense.

Bottom 5: Hiedi Gomez walks to start the inning for the Bulldogs. After a strikeout by Kayla Rhome, Emily Gomez and Laura Arabito strike the Bulldogs only two base hits of the game, advancing Heidi Gomez to the plate for what would be the game's only score. Rhome would go on to strike out the next two batters to end the inning.

- Rhome throws an excellent game for the Lady Lions, tossing six strong innings allowing one run on two hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
- Lyndsey Balder and Heidi Gomez combine to throw seven innings of shutout ball, allowing just four hits and no walks while striking out four Hazleton batters.
