Hazleton, Pa. - Macy Schnatter of East Stroudsburg, Pa. has penned her name to the 2021-22 Penn State Hazleton Softball roster. Schnatter is a third baseman/catcher from Notre Dame Jr./Sr. High School where she played four years of varsity softball and doubles tennis. Macy captained the squad during her senior season, hitting a pair of home runs during the campaign while throwing out 11 base runners from the catcher position. Schnatter helped lead the Spartans to a District XI semi-final appearance and earned a team MVP award for her success throughout the season. In addition to her recent high school accolades, Schnatter has spent seven years with the Pocono Pride travel softball team where she earned All-Star status and helped the program finish in the top five at the Salisbury Nationals in back to back seasons.
"The coaching staff and some of the players on the team really sparked my interest in the playing for Hazleton", stated Schnatter. "When I came to visit campus, I felt a sense of belonging and to be able to play the sport that I love at the college I love is just amazing!"
A National Honor Society member at Notre Dame High School, Macy looks to continue her academic prowess while competing for a Penn State University Athletic Conference championship. Macy is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children and in the fall, Schnatter will begin her course work in pursuit of a degree in the field of education.
