2nd Half surge vaults Lady Lions past Davis College 76-46
Johnson City, Ny. - The Lady Lions faced their first road test of 2016 on Friday night when they faced a fellow United States Collegiate Athletic Association opponent in the Falcons of Davis College. Hazleton found themselves tied at the midway point but found both their defense and transition game as they stormed past the Falcons in the final two periods. Hazleton outscored Davis 47-17 in the second half to earn their third win of the season by the score of 75-45 and remain undefeated on the year.
Hazleton opened up the game on an 11-2 run but quickly found themselves in a closely contested matchup as the Falcons were able to knock down shots from the field. The Lady Lions held a slim one point advantage after the first quarter but cooled off in the second period. With the clock winding down in the first half, Hazleton found themselves trailing by the three, but triple by junior Jacqlyn Siva-Harrison (South Brunswick, Nj.) knotted the score at the midway point.
The Lady Lions refocused during the break and came out with a renewed confidence in the third period. Hazleton got back to their bread and butter, forcing turnovers on the defensive side and streaking down the court for easy baskets. Hazleton's stout defensive effort held the Faclons to single digits in the third period to build a 14 point advantage, then poured on the offense in the final ten minutes to finish the game.
