Johnson scores career high in loss at Brandywine

In a matchup between Penn State Hazleton and Penn State Brandywine on February 17, 2024, Penn State Brandywine emerged victorious with a final score of 71-55.

Penn State Hazleton struggled to find their rhythm throughout the game, shooting 39.0% from the field and only 16.7% from beyond the arc. Junior Azaria Johnson (Richmond Hill, Ga.) was a standout player for Penn State Hazleton, scoring 32 points and grabbing 16 rebounds. The junior notched 18 points in the first half keeping Hazleton within seven points of Brandywine at the midway point, but the Lions were faced with a set back in the third quarter. There Hazleton totaled just 12 points compared to 22 for the home squad, giving Brandywine a healthy cushion heading in the final period. Hazleton had their best quarter of the day in the fourth, but it wasn't enough to dent the Brandywine lead. Senior Linsey Fisk (Millville, Pa.) added a season high 10 points in the loss to go along with five rebounds. 

On the other hand, Penn State Brandywine had a more balanced offensive performance, with Amanda Floyd leading the team with 21 points and Athena Brombacher contributing 14 points and 15 rebounds. The team shot 28.9% from the field and 21.4% from three-point range.

Hazleton will travel to Penn State Lehigh Valley on Tuesday night for a 6:00 p.m. matchup with just two games remaining in the season.
