Lady Lions suffer 3-0 loss to Penn State Schuylkill
Schuylkill Haven, Pa. - The Lady Lions stellar passing Tuesday afternoon failed to produce on the offensive end as Hazleton fell on the road to Penn State Schuylkill 3-0. Just as in their first matchup, Schuylkill jumped ahead despite Hazleton's dominance in the time of possession, but unlike the September contest, Schuylkill was able to tack on goals in the second half to dissuade a late rally by the Lady Lions.
1st Half
Hazleton owned the ball nearly 80 percent of the half, but despite a fine passing effort, failed to connect with teammates in and around the Schuylkill box. In the 13th minute of play, Schuykill turned over Hazleton and Angelica Kaledas broke down the left side of the field. The forward took control of the ball, dribbled past a Hazleton defender to beat the Lions keeper, giving the home squad an early advantage. The Lady Lions had several chances to tie, but shot after shot missed the mark.
2nd Half
Schuylkill was able to create space in the second period and control the tempo with greater frequency that led to a pair of goals in the final frame. Schuylkill went on the attack in the 60th minute leading to a frenzy of action inside the Hazleton 18. The Lady Lions were unable to clear the ball from the zone and Coral kreiser collected the loose ball in front of the net, tucking it home for the second score of the game. Seven minutes later, Kreiser was on the move again. This time the forward dribbled into the Lions' box, faking a wide attack and dribbling back to the middle and chipping the ball up over the Hazleton keeper to break the game open, giving Schuylkill a 3-0 advantage.
