Schuylkill Haven, Pa. - The Nittany Lions suffered a tough loss on Tuesday afternoon, falling on the road at Penn State Schuylkill by the score of 8-1. With the loss, Hazleton fell to 1-6 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
Schuylkill dominated possession of the ball in Tuesday's contest, ultimately out-shooting Hazleton by a margin of 40 shots. The home squad picked up two early goals in the first ten minutes of action and by the 20 minute mark, Schuylkill had taken a 5 goal advantage over Hazleton. The Lion's Jasmine Bender cut into the lead with her fourth goal of the season but the Lions weren't able to generate nearly enough offense to keep up with Schulkill. The home team tacked on two goals late in the first half to go up 7-1 at the break and never looked back. Hazleton mustered a solid defensive effort in the final 45 minutes play, limiting Schuylkill to just one second half goal, resulting in the 8-1 finish.
Bender led Hazleton with two shots on goal and one score in the net, while Alyssa Marlowe added one shot on targer for Hazleton in the loss. Hazleton will look to improve on their play in the two team's next meeting which will occur on Saturday, October 12 at the Hazleton campus.
